Roads
- As past chairman of the Mecklenburg Union Metropolitan Planning Organization Mayor Myers can help Matthews gets it share of federal and state road dollars.
- Trade Street improvements have been studied. Now we need to take action and start construction.
- Take action to get our fair share of new roads and road maintenance from NCDOT.
- Future projects that Mayor Myers is working on budgeting.
- Widen 51 from Butler High School to Mint Hill.
- Widen E. John Street (Monroe Road) from post office to county line with traffic-calming measures. Funding for this to start has been secured by Mayor Myers.
- Additional traffic control signals where needed.
- Extension of Independence Pointe to and under 485 (CPCC).
- Monroe Rd connection from new Independence Pointe to provide a southeast “bypass’.
- Widen Trade St. and re-align Fullwood
- Support traffic-calming devices where wanted by neighborhood.
- Sidewalks and bike lanes to continue as much as can be built each and every year.
Transit
- Mayor Myers has been the Matthews representative since formation of the Metropolitan Transit Commission in 1999.
- Mayor Myers has kept the light rail option open for Matthews
- Working on good planning for future transit line.
- Transportation for physically challenged residents.
- Increased and improved express bus service.
- Making sure Matthews gets its fair share.
