Historical Preservation
Mayor Myers has worked to preserve the history of Matthews by the following:
- All renovations/restorations have been done without cost to Matthews taxpayers
- Renovation and expansion of Matthews Community Center
- Old Depot Building with caboose now home to Chamber of Commerce office and Visitor's Center
- All renovated and restored buildings are now in active use in Matthews
- Downtown buildings and old Grist Mill
- Reid House
